We have put links to the GOV.UK web pages in relation to the financial support available to the self employed, and to employers and their employees on our Links page.
Separate COVID19 pages (see links on the left) have been created to provide a commnetary on the details applicable for self employed and employees & employers.
Before looking at the details relating to COVID19 please be aware of the confusion created by some commentators concerning peoples' status for tax purposes.
If you operate your business as a Limited Company, and you are one of its directors then you are an officer of that company. YOU ARE NOT SELF EMPLOYED. If you are on the payroll of the company, then you are AN EMPLOYEE of the company, but any money you take as a dividend IS NOT WITHIN THE SCHEMES AVAILABLE.
If your business operates a self employed business (often referred to as a sole trader) or you are a partner in a partnership trading business YOU ARE SELF EMPLOYED. If your business has staff, then you are also an EMPLOYER and you have EMPLOYEES.
These distinctions are very important in the context of the COVID19 reliefs that are available, as you can see from the detailed commentaries provided for each.
